Plum Picking Tour

Our annual Plum Picking Tour in Tanba occured on July 1st. Until now, we'd held this event on a Sunday but decided to hold it on a Saturday this year in line with our "Fireflies Watching" event on Saturday night. As we couldn't prepare forthe event the day before, we prepared ahead and waited to see whether it would be good weather or not on the day by keeping an eye on the weather forecast. The day turned out sunny, and a toal of 114 people including staff, our clients and their families joined the tour. We managed to harvest 333kg -the quantity that had been ordered, in no time at all and some people even said they wanted to pick more. We are going to wait until the plums become yellow and ripe for Umenoshi (pickled plums), so that they can be picked as an activity for adults with intellectual disabilities. The plums we processed that day to make syrup was used for plum juice, and the rest will be used in jams and pickels. Watch this space♪
